Podcasting's resurgence is strongest with millennial's, reports Edison Research. Close to 25 percent of users fall within the 12-24 year old demographic, 25-54 is just under 20 percent and 10 percent of the users are 55 plus. Even though podcasting skews young, the demographic spread isn't as young as podcasting's streaming cousin. Edison believes that the more balanced demographics of podcasting might be due to the promotion of podcasting on Public Radio, with an older skewing audience.
