Reminiscent of the old days when stations would really go at each other to try to win over listeners and create buzz, Greater Media's Detroit Sports 105.1 found a way to get the job done. The station was hoping to broadcast live from Detroit Lions training camp, however CBS Radio is the official radio partner of the Lions so the broadcasts were denied. The station made a deal with Tech Shop Detroit, whose facility borders the Lions practice field, and obtained permission to broadcast from the Tech Shop parking lot. The station then rented a 50-foot scissors lift and broadcast live from 50 feet above the field.
