The station announced Post's passing was from lung and colon cancer. Post began his radio career at WBAI Radio in 1965. He later became the voice of WNYC?s long-running program Morning Music where he worked for more than two decades. He left WNYC in 2001, but returned the following year to host a weekly program called The No Show. WNYC.com described Post as irreverent and "a world-class curmudgeon" with a decades-long "cult following."
