Monocle magazine has chosen a different path for digital than most print publishers: They have been investing heavily in digital audio. The magazine launched Monocle 24 in 2011, with round-the-clock streaming radio syndicated through iTunes, SoundCloud, Web and app channels. Digiday reports, the Monocle audio team consists of 18 full-time staff and 16 regular contributors. Monocle claims to have 550,000 listeners to their audio every month.
