The FCC released a public notice on Wednesday announcing the first set of EEO audits for the year. Letters to over 250 radio and TV stations were sent by the agency requesting evidence of compliance with the FCC's EEO rules. The Broadcast Law Blog notes that 5 percent of all broadcasters and cable systems will be sent an audit every year.
The audit letter being sent by the FCC requires all stations with five or more full-time employees to provide information about their EEO programs and recruiting efforts. One good resource if you have questions regarding compliance with the EEO rules, The Broadcast Law Blog has an excellent post on meeting EEO compliance here.
