NRG Sells Seven To Riverfront Broadcasting

10-2-14

The Northwestern Iowa stations are in Algona, Humboldt, Webster City, and Boone. Riverfront, owned by Carolyn and Doyle Becker, is based in Yankton, South Dakota and currently owns stations in Pierre, Mitchell, and Yankton, South Dakota. The company was launched back in 2004 with properties in Nebraska City, and has grown to include seven markets and 15 stations, including many properties purchased from NRG Media when it was in partnership with Waitt Media.

NRG Media CEO Mary Quass said the new owners are a perfect match for the Northwestern Iowa stations. ?It has been great working with the radio teams in all four markets. They have been an integral part of our company for years and a significant contributor to our company?s growth. At the same time, I am equally excited for the stations. Riverfront Broadcasting shares the same culture and I am confident they have a robust broadcasting future ahead.?

The call letters of the seven stations in the deal are: KLGA-FM and KLGZ-AM and FM in Algona; KWBG-AM in Boone; KHBT-FM in Humboldt; and KQWC-AM and FM in Webster City.
