Bubba to Clear Channel's 98 Rock?

8-29-14

That's the speculation in Tampa after it was announced The Bubba the Love Sponge morning show would no longer air on Cox's 102.5 The Bone, where it had been heard the previous 6 years before ending immediately on Friday. The two sides had been negotiating a new contract and could not come to an agreement. Radio Ink has been told by several sources that Bubba, who is syndicated on several other stations, will begin his new deal on 98 Rock in January of 2015.

Cox Tampa Market Manager Keith Lawless said, ?The Bone will discontinue airing the Bubba the Love Sponge Show effective immediately. We appreciate everything the Bubba the Love Sponge Show has done for us over the past six years. We now are taking the station in a different direction. CMG periodically changes direction, talent, and format of its various media programs in order to provide our audiences with fresh perspectives and compelling content. The Bone has proven to be one of America?s most outspoken radio stations. Tampa Bay can expect The Bone to continue to deliver ?Real, Raw, Radio? every day.?

Here's the new lineup
?        Morning drive (6 a.m. - 10 a.m.) ? The Mike Calta Show
?        10 a.m. - noon ? The Billy Madison Show
?        Noon - 3 p.m. ? The Shannon Burke Show
?        3 p.m. - 7 p.m. ? In Your Face with Drew Garabo
?        7 p.m. - 10 p.m. ? The Bone Daily Rewind Show

Deleted The Bone ap. No reason to listen. Not shocked BTLS is gone (it was obvious something was happening)-shocked that the Billy Madison show is still in the line up. Bubba Army.

Probably b/c BTLS went down hill right after Spice left the show. I'm not sure if Spice gave Bubba direction, reeled him in, or what-- but the show became very bad, very fast.
